More than 400 exhibitors confirm their participation at ZITF

Update 03 Jun, 2010

MORE than 400 local and international exhibitors have so far confirmed their participation at this year’s Zimbabwe International Trade Fair. ZITF Company managing director Mr Daniel Chigaru said they were expecting more exhibitors to come to the exposition as international investors seek to explore vast opportunities offered by Zimbabwe.

More than 600 exhibitors took part in last year’s edition and ZITF was optimistic to surpass that following the sudden interest being showed by international investors in the country as evidenced by recent investment conferences hosted by Zimbabwe. ZITF, one of the biggest trade and exhibition expositions in the Southern African Development Community region and also notable on the international exhibition calendar, is this year running under the theme "Unlocking Our Investment Potential".

ZITF Company has also embarked on a seminar to train exhibitors mainly locals to benefit the most from the exhibition. "As ZITF Company, we want to make participation at the stands a well-planned, thoroughfare event for the benefit of different organisations and companies in general. "We urge exhibitors who have received training to make a good impression of their companies once they have gone into their stands. It’s an opportunity to know about our companies and making relationships between them," said Mr Chigaru. He added that ZITF is set to introduce a catalogue survey aimed at improving prominent brands in the country. These catalogues would be distributed internationally using different links including Air Zimbabwe and Zimbabwean embassies across the globe.

ZITF logistics and space manager Mrs Rosemarie Harrison urged exhibitors to utilise the space that has been allocated to them in a way that would be of mutual benefit to their companies. She said 400 exhibitors had already taken up 85 percent of booking space. Speaking at the same occasion, Zimtrade operations manager Mr Stanley Tupiri briefed participants on the importance of exporting, saying that as a country, Zimbabwe needed to export its products to earn the much needed foreign currency.

"As Zimtrade, we organise Zimbabwean companies’ participation in the outside world and uphold the networking of our local companies and how they can attract foreign investors to market their companies," said Mr Tupiri.
