News by Air Zimbabwe Aero
Update 27 Jan, 2009
Air Zimbabwe’s B737-200 aircraft, registration Z-WPC, Flight 4V356 from Lubumbashi to Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of Congo, experienced a technical problem resulting in an air turnback on Sunday January 25, 2009.
Soon after take-off, the flying crew detected a fire warning signal on the aircraft’s Right Hand engine, resulting in the aircraft returning to the airport of origin (Lubumbashi). All the necessary precautions were taken and the aircraft landed safely without further incident.
On the ground inspections from our technical team revealed that it was a false fire warning, and there was no fire in the engine. Air Zimbabwe operates domestic flights in the DRC in partnership with LAC, the Congolese national airline. Air Zimbabwe remains one of the safest airlines in Africa and the world, and the airline will continue to jealously guard this reputation.
